Guizhou’s pristine environment helps create fine liquor, sa

Lucid water and lush mountains play a vital role in producing some of the best liquor in Southwest China's Guizhou province, according to Governor Shen Yiqin.

The biodiversity and environment are "natural liquor makers," she said at the opening ceremony of the ninth China International Alcoholic Beverage Expo last year.

The province's rich ethnic culture, pristine environment and excellent liquor-making techniques have combined to make Guizhou one of the world's best distilled liquor producers, she added.

Figures show that Guizhou produces 3.5 percent of the country's baijiu, while raking in a whopping 43 percent of the total profits in 2018.

The liquor industry has contributed significantly to Guizhou's fight against poverty, she said.
